Emergency Management Stresses Hurricane Preparedness
Written by Richard Romeo

ACC Residents:  Hurricane Season started June 1.

From the Office of Emergency Management Stresses Hurricane Preparedness

Friendswood, TX - June 17, 2010 - The Office of Emergency Management would like to remind all Friendswood residents that Hurricane Season officially began June 1. The City's website has been updated to assist residents in preparing their personal hurricane plans, ensuring they are registered with the FirstCall Emergency Notification System, and links to obtain additional preparedness materials and information.

FirstCall Emergency Notification System is the City's primary telephone-based community warning system. The notification alerts can be sent via voice to land lines, cell phones, VOIP phones, and via text to SMS devices. Residents with unlisted phone numbers can register at www.friendswood.com under "Online Services" or via telephone at 1-866-484-3264.

Friendswood Weather Station - Through a grant, the City purchased a robust commercial grade weather station. This weather station is located at the City's Public Safety Building and provides current weather data. Access to the weather data is available on the City's website under Public Safety and Emergencies, Emergency Management. Data is refreshed every minute.
